More Than Life

Girl Talk. Real Talk.

Well, I just had a great experience at a church youth camp. I went into it blindly; I didn’t know a soul. And I met some of the most wonderful teenagers! I most definitely had a blast with my girls! I roomed with about 40 8th graders! They were silly, talkative, and so much fun! It brought back fresh memories of when I was in 8th grade! I also led a small group of about 14 of these 8th graders. I was able to share with them deeper thoughts on Christ, the Bible, and real-life issues such as peer-pressure, gossip, and junior high life. The girls opened up, shared their hearts and all I could do was look to God for the right words to speak into their lives.

On the last night, many girls shared their heartaches. Not one eye was dry as tears rolled down each rosy cheek. These beautiful girls have experienced so much pain in their lives. Although my heart broke for them, I was also overjoyed by the beauty I saw in each of them. Seeing the strength through the pain as well as the acknowledgement of the need for Christ. It’s the beauty of life, even when it hurts.
